Flagstaff maternity family session photography is one of my favorite ways to document this season of life, especially when it is for long-time clients. One of the most wonderful things about being a photographer is getting to witness long-time clients through all of their life transitions. From being a high school senior, to getting married, and to babies and beyond, it is simply the best part of my job. I photographed Alex and Samuel’s wedding, and now it feels so full circle to see how their family has grown. I am so excited to meet their baby girl when she arrives this January!
A Flagstaff Maternity Session at Home
For this maternity family session, we stayed close to home on the Ugarte family’s property in Flagstaff, Arizona, along with a few nearby spots that felt just as personal and meaningful. There is something extra special about photographing families in places that are already part of their everyday life. It makes the images feel relaxed, familiar, and timeless.
Flagstaff is always such a beautiful backdrop, especially with the tall pines and open space. Even though it was a little chilly, the weather was overall really nice and gave us that crisp Northern Arizona feel that photographs so beautifully. Cozy layers, soft light, and quiet moments made this session feel calm and connected.
Waiting on a Baby Girl
Alex and Samuel are expecting a baby girl, due in January, and you can already feel how loved she is. This season of anticipation is so special, and maternity family sessions are such a meaningful way to remember it. The excitement, the closeness, and the in-between moments are always my favorite to document.
Photographing families during maternity sessions is less about posing and more about letting them be together. This session was full of natural interactions, gentle laughter, and moments that reflect who they are right now, just before their family grows again.

Sessions like this are such a reminder of why I love being a Flagstaff family photographer. From weddings to maternity to family sessions, getting to walk alongside my clients through so many chapters of life is something I will never take for granted.
