Teri & Paul’s 45th Wedding Anniversary in the Arizona White Mountains

Some sessions feel extra special before I even pick up my camera. A couple of weekends ago, I had the honor of photographing a 45th wedding anniversary celebration for a couple who have known me since I was a pre-teen. Their daughter was my best friend in junior high and high school, so being invited to capture this milestone felt like coming full circle.

The celebration took place at their beautiful property tucked away in the Arizona White Mountains. It overlooks a canyon that feels almost untouched, a quiet and breathtaking setting perfect for gathering generations together. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The soft mountain breeze and golden sunset light made the evening absolutely stunning.

Before the party began, we gathered the family for portraits. Kids, grandkids, and siblings all came together, laughing between photos and soaking up the joy of being in the same place again. Watching everyone connect and seeing how love has carried through the generations was such a beautiful reminder of what truly matters.

A slideshow played with photos from their wedding day and moments throughout their life together. Decades of holidays, family adventures, and everyday memories filled the screen, showing the legacy they’ve built. It was an evening full of warmth, laughter, and gratitude for 45 years of marriage rooted in love and family.

I’m so thankful I had the chance to be part of this evening and to capture these memories surrounded by the beauty of the Arizona White Mountains.

I’ve taken quite a few surprise proposals before, but this was my first time when a client hired me to do “family portraits” in Heber, Arizona as a cover for a guy to pop the big question. Mechel, the organizer of everything and family member, reached out to book a family portrait session in Heber […]
