I was so excited to shoot Jacob’s Sahuarita senior portraits because my husband and I have known his parents for a long time. My husband’s dad served in the Air Force with Jacob’s dad. Both families were stationed at Davis-Monthan at the same time in 2005 and both moved to Las Vegas and then back to Tucson afterward. I didn’t come to know Jacob’s parents until I married Matt, but they’ve been such a treasure in our lives since.
Both Matt and Jacob’s dad are retired from the Air Force now, and Jacob’s dad decided to own and manage a Chick-fil-A franchise in Tucson, Arizona. It’s very near where Matt’s parents currently live so each time we visit, we usually always make a stop and let our kids play in the Play Place while we enjoy the deliciousness that is Chick-fil-A. We always hope to run into Jacob’s parents while we’re there and it’s been one of the main ways we’ve been able to keep in touch with them so well over the years.
When Jacob’s mom asked me to do Sahuarita senior portraits for her son, I was so excited to spend more time with their family and to meet one of their kids who I’ve already heard great things about.
Jacob totally lived up to the hype. He’s such a sweet, awesome guy who was super fun to hang out with despite my not meeting him until shoot day. I was also stoked to shoot in a new, different location having never been to Sahuarita before. Jacob goes to Walden Grove High School and plays both for his school and on a club soccer team. We loved doing some soccer photos with him.
One of my favorite things about Jacob, and I told him this in person, is how responsible he seems to be. He was super prompt with all of his email communication, and really on top of the logistics of the shoot. Some of these traits are hard to come by in a high school senior, so I’m excited for Jacob and his next chapter in life knowing he’ll be on top of his game to succeed.
